Zur Ergänzung der Ernährung mit Lactoferrin und Lysin bei Katzen, die einem Infektionsdruck ausgesetzt sind (z. B. bei Trägern des Herpesvirus und des Calicivirus), beim ersten Auftreten von Symptomen und in Phasen der Verschlimmerung derselben.
Lactoferrin ist ein natürliches Protein, das Säugetiere bei der Geburt über das Kolostrum und die Muttermilch aufnehmen und das physiologischerweise in allen organischen Flüssigkeiten (Tränen, Speichel, Galle, Urin, Blut, Sperma, Zervixschleim) vorhanden ist, d. h. dort, wo ein Eine sofortige unspezifische Abwehr gegen das Eindringen von Infektionserregern von außen ist erforderlich.
Lactoferrin ist ein Bestandteil der Rindermilch, aus der es mit bestimmten Reinigungstechniken isoliert werden kann. Herp enthält eine spezifische Proteinfraktion der Milch, die besonders reich an Lactoferrin ist. Es ist mit Lysin verbunden, dessen Nährstoffaufnahme in ausreichenden Mengen dazu beiträgt, die Fähigkeit der Tiere zu unterstützen, auf die Schwierigkeiten zu reagieren, die sich aus möglichen Infektionen ergeben.
