The types of crystals that most often occur in cats are struvite and calcium phosphate. These pathologies of the lower urinary tract are a complex problem that affects many cats and which is often also painful, since it involves the formation of crystals in them.
Struvite crystals and stones mostly originate from the combination of urine saturated with magnesium, ammonium and phosphorus, as well as an alkaline urine pH.
