Cystophan helps relieve the symptoms of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a disease that affects many cats within 10 years; FIC is the leading cause of feline lower urinary tract infections (FLUTD), and has several physical, environmental and management predisposing factors.
Cystophan helps support and preserve the bladder GAG layer; as stress is a worsening factor of the pathology, it contains L-tryptophan, precursor of serotonin, known as the "hormone of happiness".
Active ingredients:
- N-acetyl d-glucosamine - precursor of chondroitin sulphate and keratin sulphate which make up the GAG layer which defines and protects the bladder urothelium. This layer, if strong and resistant, prevents the adhesion of bacteria to the mucosal cells.
- Hyaluronic acid - one of the main components of the GAG layer that protects the bladder, makes up its scaffolding.
- L-tryptophan: precursor of serotonin, it helps to reduce the animal's stress and anxiety; it also regulates appetite and sleep.
- Artificial chicken flavor: to increase palatability and compliance.
