Hyperosmotic ophthalmic solution based on a high concentration of mannitol able to restore the osmotic balance of the cornea

      Quantity :
      • Hyperosmotic ophthalmic solution based on a high concentration of mannitol able to restore the osmotic balance of the cornea by removing excess fluid and thus supporting the recovery of visual function.
Thus it supports the treatment of corneal edema and glaucoma.

The osmolarity of the product exceeds 1000 mOsm / I in order to make the solution hypertonic and therefore able to recall water from the cornea and ocular tissues by osmosis.

        Very well tolerated by animals.

THERAOFTAL OSMO is an excellent adjuvant in the medical treatment of:

        • Corneal edema from endothelial degeneration in elderly dogs

        • Post-operative treatment of cataracts

        • Adjuvant in the treatment of glaucoma: ocular pathology characterized by an increase in intraocular pressure, caused by an obstruction of the outflow pathways of aqueous humor which, in normal subjects, is continuously produced and drained, maintaining the ocular tone values in balance.
The obstruction can be caused by a congenital defect (primary open angle glaucoma, narrow / closed glaucoma, or goniodysgenesis) or by any other intraocular disease (secondary glaucoma).
Many cases of primary glaucoma are considered hereditary and caused by abnormalities of the structures used to drain the aqueous humor, particularly the iridocorneal angle, which extends from the base of the iris to the periphery of the cornea and is composed of combed ligaments.
Glaucoma in cats tends to have more subtle signs than in dogs.
Although visual function can be maintained despite elevated blood pressure, many cats are unavailable to frequent topical medication but it is critical for maintaining acceptable intraocular pressure and, in any case, therapy must be maintained for life.
Glaucoma is a serious and progressive disease that causes pain and total loss of vision.
The aim of the therapy is to maintain the patient's visual status for as long as possible and to reduce pain caused by the increase in intraocular pressure.
