THERAIDRA MICROBIOMA SPRAY  is an innovative formulation for cutaneous use for dogs and cats based on emollient lipid substances, ceramides and Vitamin E.

Contains BIOME21, a mix of ingredients capable of supporting the normal function of the skin microbiome and is enriched with soothing and normalizing substances, such as glycyrrhetic acid, palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and aloe vera.
The formulation favors the restoration and maintenance of the integrity of the skin barrier function and protects the skin and the coat.

      ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
BIOME21 : Original complex of ingredients (Acetyl Heptapeptide-4 and Inulin complex) capable of:

      • Strengthen the function of the skin barrier against physical agents and pathogens
      • Promote greater microbial diversity, balance of the skin microbiota and increase of beneficial bacteria on the skin
      • Increase the expression of genes associated with tight junctions, promoting the integrity of the skin barrier
      • Stimulating the immune response against keratinocyte pathogens
      • Modulate the profile of ceramides by promoting an increase in long-chain ceramides, essential for preserving the skin barrier
      • Significantly reduce the water loss of the epidermis, preserving skin hydration

GLYCYRRHETIC ACID : also used in products for pediatric use, it is a soothing substance and very suitable for sensitive and inflamed skin.

PALMITOILETANOLAMIDE (PEA) : natural anti-inflammatory active ingredient, it reduces the clinical symptoms of dermatitis (erythema, itching) and skin manifestations of sensitivity.

LACTIC ACID : it has an exfoliating and moisturizing function, it helps to restore the optimal pH balance of the skin in order to protect it from the aggression of fungi or bacteria.

ALOE VERA: thanks to the high mineral content , vitamins and amino acids, it is a powerful antioxidant and soothing, it is also an anti-inflammatory and a natural re-epithelializer; it also performs a good bactericidal and antifungal action.

VITAMIN E: carries out an antioxidant action to combat free radicals; it also helps to limit the loss of water from the epidermis, preserving skin hydration and keeping the skin soft and protected.

CERAMIDS: substances of a lipid nature, fundamental constituents of lipid barrier of the epidermis; they play a fundamental role in preventing trans-epidermal water loss and in keeping the skin hydrated, elastic and protected.

      SKIN MICROBIOTA AND DERMATOLOGICAL PATHOLOGIES
Many these are the studies that confirm, especially for humans, a fundamental involvement of the skin microbiota in skin health.
In dogs, the deeper skin layer would seem to lack a defined microbiota while Proteobacteria followed by Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Moraxellaceae the most abundant phyla on the skin surface were found.

BIOME21 is an original blend of ingredients (Acetyl Heptapeptide -4 and Inulin complex) with double effect:

      • prebiotic thanks to the ability to stimulate the growth of Moraxellaceae bacteria with an anti-inflammatory effect that increases the immune resistance of the skin;
      • probiotic by modulating the balance of the skin microbiota by reducing the adhesion of pathogens and reinforcing the physical barrier of the skin.

In vitro efficacy studies have demonstrated the ability of BIOME21 to promote a change in the skin microbiota in favor of beneficial bacteria.

Human keratinocytes were pre-incubated for 24 hours with BIOME21 or culture medium as a control.
Epidermal cells were then exposed to a mixture of green-fluorescent-labeled S. epidermidis and red-fluorescent inactivated S.aureus. The keratinocyte nuclei were stained with blue fluorescence.
