INFORMATION - Gastritis
Inflammatory process affecting the stomach, very common not only in humans, but also in pets.
Causes
Among the main causes there are certainly a bad or unsuitable diet (based on kitchen waste or low quality food), the use of drugs, the ingestion of foreign bodies or irritants, viral infectious diseases (eg. Parvovirus) or bacterial (eg Helicobacter pylori), lifestyle (eg forced sedentary lifestyle), stress of various kinds, as well as numerous other pathologies such as renal failure or neoplasms.
In cats, gastritis caused by the presence of hairballs in the stomach is no exception, a very frequent problem, especially during the moulting period.
Symptoms
The main symptom is certainly lack of appetite, often associated with abdominal pain, drooling (excessive salivation) and vomiting, which in turn can cause weight loss and even severe dehydration.
