Canitel Plus 104 Tablets

PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC CATEGORY:  antihelmintic for dogs with a multipurpose function against mixed infestations by internal parasites

COMPOSITION

Active ingredient:  Each tablet contains 50 mg of praziquantel, 50 mg of pyrantel (equivalent to 144 mg of pyrantel embonate) and 150 mg of febantel.

Excipients:  Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulphate, pork flavouring.

INDICATIONS

Canitel Plus is a vermicide for dogs based on three active ingredients, each with a specific knockdown action against a particular species of dog worms:

Febantel, effective against whipworms;

Pirantel, effective against hookworms and roundworms;

Praziquantel, effective against tapeworms and other tapeworms.

It is particularly suitable for the treatment of mixed infestations caused by nematodes and tapeworms, specifically:

Roundworms: toxocara canis and toxascaris leonina (adult and immature forms at an advanced stage);

Hookworms: uncinaria stenocephala and ancylostoma caninum (adults);

Whipworms: trichuris vulpis (adults);

Tapeworms: echinococcus spp,  taenia spp, and dipylidium caninum (adult and immature forms).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not simultaneously administer piperazine compounds. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Tablets

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: The anthelmintic is administered orally. The tablets are flavoured with pork and are highly palatable. However, if the dog refuses, it is advisable to mix them with the food it likes.

DOSAGE

For the correct dosage follow the instructions:

from 0.5 to 2 kg: 1/4 tablet

from 3 to 5 kg: 1/2 tablet

from 6 to 10 kg: 1 tablet

from 11 to 15 kg: 1 + 1/2 tablet

from 16 to 20 kg: 2 tablets

from 21 to 25 kg: 2 + 1/2 tablets

from 26 to 30 kg: 3 tablets

from 31 to 35 kg: 3 + 1/2 tablets

from 36 to 40 kg: 4 tablets

from 41 and above: 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight

STORAGE: Do not administer this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.Dispose of unused divided tablets immediately. 

WARNINGS: To ensure correct dosing, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible.

TARGET SPECIES: Dogs

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: Not applicable.

SIDE EFFECTS: In very rare cases, gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhoea, vomiting) may be observed. If you experience any serious adverse reactions or other reactions not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING: No studies have been performed in bitches during the first part of pregnancy. The use of the product during pregnancy must be subject to a risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian. It is recommended not to use the product in bitches during the first 4 weeks of pregnancy. Do not exceed the recommended dose when treating pregnant bitches.
