Alfalfa hay is an exceptional hay for young animals. It has a crude protein content, metabolizable energy and a higher calcium content than any other forage. This hay has the right fiber content required for normal digestive function. Alfalfa provides all the calcium needed for growing bones. Alfalfa is also a source of other important minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, zinc and selenium.
However, Alfalfa hay should not be administered to all animals (adults), but if used with care in certain situations (on veterinary advice), it can be a valuable tool in managing the diet. Thanks to its delicious flavor, this hay can be used as an appetite stimulant when the animal is sick or recovering from surgery. It can be offered to adult animals only as a delicacy.
INGREDIANTS:
100% Alfalfa, without preservatives and additives
Alfalfa is a forage hay of legumes with a high fiber content which is sometimes called “the queen of fodder”. This hay differs from other grass hays such as timothy (botanical name: Phleum pratense), club grass (Dactylis glomerata) from the point of view of the structure of the leaf, stem and root. Alfalfa is a legume hay and the protein, calcium and energy content is higher than that of grass hay. Thanks to the special attention that Oxbow Animal Health dedicates to harvesting and night hay making, you will notice that Oxbow Alfalfa hay has a soft stem with the leaves still attached.
