Properties
STIEN Pet Line contains Methionine and Ammonium chloride, substances with urinary acidifying action; the association of these two substances allows to enhance the activity of the individual components and simultaneously reduce the amount necessary to obtain the desired pH.
STIEN Pet Line is therefore indicated as an acidifier of the urine in case of urinary lithiasis caused by stones of struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate), both for the dissolution of stones and for the reduction of relapses.
In dogs, urolithiasis is a serious problem: the formation of uroliths is mostly a consequence of infection of the urinary tract.
STIEN Pet Line acts by lowering the pH of the urine, creating an unfavorable environment for the precipitation of alkaline salts and favoring the dissolution of already formed stones.
To better modulate administration, during intake of STIEN Pet Line it is suggested to periodically perform a complete urinalysis or in any case the pH control.
The urine pH values must be lower than 6.7 , preferably between 6,0 - 6,5.
Since in dogs after meals the pH of the urine increases considerably, it is advisable to administer STIEN Pet Line during or immediately after meals to avoid excessive increases in pH which favor the formation of struvite precipitates.
STIEN Pet Line can be administered with any type of diet and any type of feed and allows not to modify the dog's diet.
It is normal that during the feeding period the dog shows greater thirst: always leave water available at will; the greater quantity of water taken determines a dilution of the urine which contributes to disadvantage the formation of struvite stones.
STIEN Pet Line for dogs of all sizes contains only high quality protein hydrolysates of porcine origin, non-allergenic (average molecular weight less than 1000 Dalton) as appetitizer.
STIEN Pet Line for dogs of all sizes can therefore be taken by dogs with intolerances and allergies to animal proteins.
STIEN Pet Line is also available in the pack of 80 tablets for cats and small dogs, highly palatable due to the presence of high quality chicken proteins.
